Industry Reports
One of the most powerful ways for an organization to position themselves in front of the media and their target audience as a thought leader is to create a timely, topical, data-driven report.
We call these industry reports (they’ve also been referred to as e-books or whitepapers). Typically, they come in the form of a downloadable PDF or landing page that presents easily digestible information and insights for a given industry. They are packed with knowledge that forces a reader to stop and take note.
Our agency has years of experience researching and writing industry reports. We help clients through ideation, brainstorming, drafting, writing, editing, and designing these industry reports. And these reports help our clients get major exposure. From the New York Times to Century 21’s blog, we’ve had clients placed in some major third-party websites through well executed industry reports.
How the Process Works
First, we compile and measure data in your specific field. Once the data has been compiled, we present it to you in a detailed yet easily digestible report. We can generate the following reports for your company:
- Trend analysis reports
- Market analysis reports
- Performance reports
- Survey-focused reports
The benefits of detailed, comprehensive industry research are massive and far-reaching:
- Lead generation. We will gather your audience’s demographic information to better understand your customer base and use the data to find new customers.
- Guided decision making. We will gather your organization’s performance data. Analyze the data and identify opportunities for improvement and growth. Do you know every detail of your spending, profits, marketing, and budgeting? Identify potential issues and resolve them before they grow out of hand.
- Gain an edge on your competitors. We will research trends in your industry and compile that data in a report. Get the latest market overviews and information on your competitors. Zig while your competitors zag.
Another aspect of our research and industry reporting service is white papers. Be a thought leader in your field. With Bear Icebox’s help, present your organization’s stance on nuanced issues in clear, concise language. Your audience values transparency, honesty, and knowing where you stand. With well-written industry reports, educate and inform your audience, or better yet, influence the market at large.

FAQs for Industry Reports
Q: What tips do you have for creating engaging, informative, and shareable reports?
A. It’s important to consider a topic that is going to speak to your industry and offer new insights. We recommend being broad enough so that the media will take note, while also going deep enough for industry experts and leaders to find value in your report. This is a fine line to walk and it’s probably best to consult with an agency on how to create a report that satisfies both of these priorities.
Q: How does an industry report integrate with my other marketing initiatives and content?
A. Industry reports are often at the center of a broader marketing strategy. When a company works closely with a PR agency from Day One on an industry trend report, they can position it to reach multiple audiences—stakeholders in their industry and members of the media covering an industry who will find value in the information housed in the report.
Q: Is it necessary to include visuals or infographics in an industry report?
A. Visuals always make an impact. Especially if your report is sharing a large amount of numerical data, creating something that is easier to read – and share– can really make your report stand out. Is it absolutely necessary? Not exactly. But it makes for a much more interesting and memorable report.
Q: How long should an industry report be so that it captures all relevant information without being too dense or overwhelming?
A. There’s no need to write War and Peace. However, these reports are longer than an Ernest Hemingway sentence. The key is to find a balance between educating and being thorough—and entertaining your audience with insights they can’t get anywhere else.
